I took a quick Sunday evening trip to Rocky Mountain National Park to see if I could find some elk in large velvet antlers. As I approached the park, a massive thunderstorm came in from the west. The lighting was dramatic, but not good for wildlife photography. I did not see much wildlife as I entered the park, so headed up to the top to see if I could find pikas and marmots. I found some, but the lighting was quite dark. Back down in the valley, I found a huge bull elk in velvet. He was in some timber, but I still got a few low-light shots.
