Lori and I took a 4-week, fall trip to Yellowstone. We were concerned about the smoke from the fires and the fact that the Maple fire might interfere with our plans to camp at the Madison campground. It rained and snowed the first three days of the trip, which really reduced the threat from the fires.

I found a wonderful great gray owl at the entrance to the brink of the upper falls of the Yellowstone river. It patiently waited for prey to make sound and then swooped down to try to catch it. It was a magnificent bird and I spent about an hour taking pictures of it.
