We took a fall trip to Yellowstone again this year. My sister Fran joined me for the first week and Lori was able to join me for the second week. The trip had variable, but generally warm weather. The elk were largely absent, but we did see a few distant bulls with harems. Other wildlife was pretty abundant, but as is often the case in Yellowstone, they were pretty distant.
As we were driving along the Firehole River toward the Madison Campground, we saw a juvenile Double Breasted Cormorant sitting in great light on a log. We stopped and I took numerous pictures of it. This is only the second trip were I have seen a cormorant and the first time I was close enough for pictures.
