Lori and I took a 4-week, fall trip to Yellowstone. We were concerned about the smoke from the fires and the fact that the Maple fire might interfere with our plans to camp at the Madison campground. It rained and snowed the first three days of the trip, which really reduced the threat from the fires.
We spent a cloudy day in West Yellowstone. On our way back to the Madison campground the light became magnificent. The bull elk and small harem were out along the Madison River three pullouts west of the campground. The bull put on a bit of a show in occassionally fantastic light. I met Trent Sizemore (photographer from West Yellowstone) and got reaquanted with Bob from Tuwilla Utah. It was a very pleasant evening.
