Lori and I took a long spring trip of 5 weeks to Yellowstone National Park. It was our first trip with our new-to-us trailer.. Getting everything ready for the trip was exciting, but we finally departed for Yellowstone on April 30 and arrived in Yellowstone May 1. We stayed at Madison campground.

We spent the afternoon in the Upper Geyser Basin, starting with ice cream at the lower general store. We then ventured out into very threatening weather, where we watched Lion, LittleCub, and Grand geysers errupt. After viewing Grand, we retreated to the lodges expecting the storm to hit. It bypassed the Upper Geyser Basin, so we returned to touring the boardwalk, with more threatening weather. We made it back to the van before the second storm hit. In the meantime, we had some of the most dramatic lighting I have ever seen at the Upper Geyser Basin.
