Lori and I took a 4-week, fall trip to Yellowstone. We were concerned about the smoke from the fires and the fact that the Maple fire might interfere with our plans to camp at the Madison campground. It rained and snowed the first three days of the trip, which really reduced the threat from the fires.

One evening we drove to along the Madison river after a significant storm chased us away from the upper geyser basin. We found a relatively small 6x6 bull elk starting to build a harem. He put on quite a show and I was able to get some shots of him in the nice evening light.
